Many Married People Discovering Partners’ Affairs During Quarantine

Div12

The quarantine has made people discover things about their significant others. You may have seen the articles about people discussing the unexpected things their husbands and wives say or their cute habits, especially since work and personal lives are becoming intertwined.

Not all things are cute and funny, though. Some people are discovering that their spouses are living double lives. Many people are having trouble hiding their affairs as they are stuck living in the same house with their spouses.

The other spouses are becoming suspicious as their cheating husbands and wives are hiding their phones, carrying on secret conversations and going for long walks and bike rides. Their partners’ cell phones are going off at all hours.

Not only is infidelity a problem, but so is division of labor. Many people are resentful of their spouses because they aren’t pulling their weight and doing their fair share. Many women are having to work, cook, clean and deal with having to homeschool their children, with the schools now closed. Meanwhile, their husbands may be just working, or even just sitting around and playing video games.

What’s a fed-up spouse to do during this difficult time? Courts are closed, so divorce is pretty much impossible at this time. However, once the economy returns to normal and people are allowed to leave their houses once again, it’s expected that the divorce rate will skyrocket.

While a person can call a lawyer now to understand their options once the quarantine has been lifted, there are other things they can do to stay sane as they live under the same roof with their cheating spouse.

First, they should think about what they can handle. Do you want your spouse to be truthful with you right now? It may be best to just ignore the situation for the time being. This is especially true if you have children at home. They are already stressed out because their school schedule has changed. It’s best to keep things positive for the time being.

Keep in mind that while the courts are closed, there are exceptions for dangerous situations. If you or your children are victims of abuse, seek legal help right away.  Your lawyer can help you file a restraining order or find you a safe place to stay.

In any case, with people making less money, now may be a good time to get a divorce. Assets and net worth are low for many couples, so there will be less money to split up and hopefully less drama and stress. It won’t be such a huge blow now.
